When we are going through a time of depression, we often feel a sense of heaviness and loneliness – as if we are entrapped in the enemy’s grasp. But, God wants you to be set free! In John 10:10, Jesus says, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” He spoke these words for you. When Christ died on Calvary, He totally defeated Satan. Today, He is the one who will set you free from Satan’s torments. Right now, He will begin to do the healing in your heart.
Look at Psalm 40:1-3 where King David was in despair and God did a mighty work in his life. “I waited patiently for the Lord. He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord.” Now, take time to thank the Lord that He has heard your cry. Say, “Thank you, Lord that you have lifted me out of the pit, and you are setting my feet on a rock and giving me a firm place to stand. You have put a new song in my mouth, and I will praise you, God. I thank you and trust You.”
Let’s pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father, we lift up this precious child of Yours asking that You will help them to have victory over the depression and heaviness. Lord, You know what is the root cause of their pain. Please begin a deep healing in their heart and emotions. In the Name of Jesus, we bind any influence from Satan. When Jesus died on Calvary, He took our griefs and sorrows. Lord, help them to give their sorrow, grief and depression over to You. Thank you, Jesus, that You are our joy. In Jeremiah 31:13, You have said, “I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.” We praise You and thank You, Lord, right now that they are overwhelmed with Your joy. We praise you, Jesus, and we turn our thoughts toward You right now, and we say thank You. Praise God! In Jesus’ name. Amen
Now, you have given your feelings of depression/grief/sorrow over to the Lord. Whenever the enemy tries to bring these thoughts back to you say, “Thank you, Lord, that I have given that over to You. Now, I’m going to praise You and thank You that no weapon formed against me will prosper, and I am more than a conqueror in Jesus. I walk in joy!” Then, keep praising Him.

Philippians 4:8: “Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good report, if there is any excellence and anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things.”
Psalm 3:3: “O LORD, you are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head.”
Psalm 16:8-11: “I have set the LORD always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope. For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
Philippians 4:4-7: “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
