God knows that we will experience fear in our lives because in the Bible He says, “Fear not” over and over again. But, not only does He tell us not to fear, but He gives us specific ways to stand against it and be victorious over it. In II Timothy 1:7, the Bible says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, of love and of a sound mind.” Therefore, we know that fear does not come from God. Also, James 4:7 says, “Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” It is not in our own power that we resist, but as we speak the Name of Jesus, using His Word, that spirit of fear will leave. The enemy was totally defeated when Jesus was on Calvary, but now we have a responsibility to stand against him. When we speak God’s Word as a sword, that spirit of fear has no choice but to flee.
Let us pray together…
Dear Heavenly Father, we lift up this precious child of yours who is feeling overwhelmed by fear in their life. We thank you that Satan was totally defeated on Calvary. We thank you, too, that you have given us Your weapons to use against him. So, right now, in the Name of Jesus, we bind the spirit of fear that has been harassing this person. Thank you, Lord, that your peace encircles this person. It is in Your power that they rest. You have said that we are to cast all of our cares on You. Help this, Your child, to release all of the fear and anxieties into Your hands. We know that Your perfect love casts out all fear. Thank you, dear Lord. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
