Douglas Anderson
Douglas & Joyce Anderson have attended Westminster for 19 years. Douglas holds a doctoral degree in psychology, practicing over 10 years focusing on family and relationship issues. He now directs an independent financial organization.

Douglas & Joyce Anderson have attended Westminster for 19 years. Joyce works part-time as a RN.
Bill Backlund
Bill Backlund and his wife have been members of Westminster Chapel for the last 12 years. He is a retired orthopedic surgeon and had a practice in Redmond. He has taught a variety of Sunday School classes at Westminster over the years. He served in the Washington State House of Representatives for 5 years.
John Bangs
John Bangs served as Associate Pastor of Enfolding Ministries at Westminster Chapel until Easter of 2001, when he and his family left to lead the establishment of a new church: Hillside Chapel of Redmond. With a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry degree from George Fox University, John presently serves as Associate Professor of Ministry Leadership and Director of Extended Education at Northwest University. He is also affiliated with Fuller Seminary Northwest as Director of Mentoring, and he teaches courses in Worship and Christian Spirituality. He and his wife, Treesa, have eight children, including a family of five Sudanese refugees, ranging in age from 5-21, who joined their family just before Christmas of 2008.
Larry Brown
Larry Brown is both an attorney, with a degree from UC Davis, and a CPA. He has been involved in teaching and discipleship ministries to high school and college students for over twenty years. He has recently begun a Masters in Biblical Theology at Fuller Seminary.
Robin Carey
Robin Carey has attended Westminster Chapel for 25 years. Her career includes 28 years in banking, most recently serving as the EVP/Operations for First Mutual Bank. She received a MS degree in Community Counseling from SPU in 1994 and served on the counseling staff of Westminster, as well as had a private counseing practice for several years.
Brenda Charlston
Life is full of changes. Sometimes those changes leave us confused or unable to look forward. This class will discuss the complexity that loss of a loved one, empty nest, retirement, and even grandchildren can bring to our lives, and give us time together to process how we deal with them.
Tom Clark
Tom Clark is a retired Boeing engineer with a BS degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University. He has been a member of Westminster Chapel since 1980. He’s served on the Elder Board, the Missionary Care Committee and as a coordinator of an adult Sunday School class.
Darrel Claussen
Darrel’s values are the 4 F’s…faith, family, friends and fishing. Several years ago, when he was in the church leadership structure, he was asked to create a purpose statement based on the ministry he felt called to and the spiritual gifts God had given him. The words that describe his calling are…Learn, Discern, Reach and Teach. Darrel’s wife is Donna, whom he has been married to for 35 years and is deeply in love with.
Dave Deshazer
Dave Deshazer has attended Westminster Chapel for over 20 years. He has been involved in evangelism and discipleship training for 40 years. He and his wife, Jama, were on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ for 20 years, and he has served as Regional Director for Alpha Northwest since 2003.
Brian Dillon
Brian Dillon has attended Westminster for eight years, has worked in youth ministry and is currently leading a small group. He graduated from Taylor University and works as a portfolio manager.
Steve Duncan
Steve Duncan received his Ph.D in philosophy from the University of Washington. He teaches philosophy at Bellevue College, including the philosophy of religion, ethics, and logic.
Kermit Ecklebarger
Kermit Ecklebarger taught New Testament for 34 years at Denver Seminary. He finished degrees at Wheaton College and the University of Chicago. Before moving to Denver in 1972, he taught for 12 years at a Bible College in Ontario, Canada.
Brad Embry
Brad Embry received his BA and MA in Biblical Literature from Oral Roberts University. He has a Ph.D. in Theology concentrating in Old Testament and 2nd Temple Judaism from the University of Durham, UK. Presently, he is full-time at Northwest University teaching Old Testament Bible and Theology.
Al Erisman
Al teaches at the School of Business and Economics at SPU and is the editor of Ethix. He also works with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship on Micro Enterprise Development in Central Africa. He retired as Director of Technology from Boeing in 2001 after 32 years.
Arlene Finley
Arlene Finley is the Minister of Worship at Westminster. She was born and raised in the Philippines. Prior to coming to the US to pursue a second bachelor’s degree, she lived and worked in Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore. She is a graduate of Northwest University with a degree in Music Ministry.
Barry and Karen Friemel
Barry and Karen Friemel have attended Westminster for 9 years and have two teens.
Jeff Hawk
Jeff Hawk worked for Boeing for 33 years before retiring at the end of 2007. He was responsible for the certification of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Jeff is an engineering graduate of the University of Colorado.
Paul Herrick
Paul Herrick teaches philosophy at Shoreline Community College. He is the author of three textbooks, The Many Worlds of Logic (Oxford University Press), Philosophy From a Theistic Point of View (Harcourt Brace) and Reason and Worldview, An Introduction to Western Philosophy (Harcourt Brace). He received his Ph.D in philosophy from the University of Washington.
Ian Hodge
Ian Hodge is a 2005 graduate of Biola University where he majored in Biblical Studies. He has attended Westminster for the last 20+ years and spends his days managing a branch of Washington Federal Savings in downtown Seattle.
Tom Hodge
Tom is the COO and a Partner with Frazier Healthcare Ventures since 2000. He has over 25 years of experience working with emerging healthcare and information technology companies. He graduated in 1980 from the University of Virginia School of Law.
Koti Hu
Koti Hu came to Westminster as the primary worship pastor in training for leading the 11:30 AM Sunday morning service, as well as for the young adults. When he was severely injured in a car accident on July 28, 2007 which left him unable to walk and without full use of his arms and hands, Koti determined that he would relearn the skills he needs to continue preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Koti hopes to pursue a Masters in Theology.
Amy Jones
Amy Jones earned her B.A. at Western Washington University and her M.Ed. at Seattle University. She has worked in higher education for fifteen years and is currently the Director of Academic Success and Advising at Northwest University. She is passionate about helping college students figure out what will work for them as they pursue their educational goals.
Waldemar Kowalski
Waldemar Kowalski has served in pastoral ministry prior to teaching at Northwest University, where he is a Professor of Bible and Theology, entering his 23 year. He has studied in Germany, the US, Canada, and earned his Ph.D. in the UK.
Benny Lam
Benny Lam is a Law graduate of the University of Liverpool, England. He has been an intern with the Mission Department and is involved in Alpha, with Internationals, and has led numerous Bible study groups. His passion is to lead people to Christ.
Scot Land
Scot Land has an undergraduate degree in classical philosophy and has studied and taught about the power of ideas and ethics at the University level in the US, Europe and Asia and written on the problems of post modern relativism in education and business. He currently advises technology companies on the development of strategic plans and development of international markets, and was cofounder of the Program on Technology Commercialization and adjunct facility member at University of Washington.
Kay Lester
Kay Lester is a retired business executive with 24 years experience in sales and sales management in the medical device industry. She is a graduate from Purdue University with a BS in Pharmacy and will graduate in 2008 from Fuller Seminary NW with a Masters Degree in Theology and Biblical Studies. She enjoys teaching, taking mission trips to Africa and telling people about the difference Jesus has made in her life. She has been married to her best friend, Michael for 20 years.
Fred Luke
Fred Luke is a graduate of UW with a degree in metallurgical engineering and has worked at Boeing for over 30 years. He has been a member of Westminster for about four years, but has been involved in disciplining and teaching Christian growth principles for over 30 years. He is strongly committed to the concept of continual spiritual growth and discipleship.
David Mashburn
David Mashburn earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 1986 with an emphasis on the Integration of Theology and Psychology. He is co-founder and partner for Tidemark, a targeted online recruiting company. He is an adjunct faculty member at SPU’s School of Business and Economics.
Dave & Janeth Melin
Dave & Janeth Melin have five children and live in Bellevue.
Brian Mistele
Bryan Mistele has written and taught extensively on the subjects of prophecy, the after-life, the spirit realm, apologetics and Intelligent Design. He is the adult education elder at Westminster, and has held various leadership positions in several Christian organizations. Bryan holds a master’s degree from Harvard and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan.
Michelle Mordaunt
Michelle Mordaunt has attended Westminster Chapel for six years, where she has worked on the Single-Parent Family Ministry team. Michelle has attended and facilitated Love and Logic classes/seminars since 1999. She currently works with children in the Bellevue School District.
Paul Pardi
Paul Pardi holds an M.A. in Philosophy from BIOLA University. He has served as an adjunct professor in the Philosophy department at SPU for seven years and is the author of numerous online publications, including “The Argument from Nonbelief – a Rejoinder” for the website “Secular Web.”
Steve Parsons
Steve currently serves as our Connecting Pastor. Steve is married to Sara and they have two beautiful daughters named Kailee and Tara. Steve’s primary passion is seeing the order and design of God seen through people and the rest of God’s creation. Steve was ordained here at Westminster and is a graduate of the University of Washington and Moody Bible Institute. He enjoys playing basketball, watching sports, fishing and gardening.
John and Mary Pearson
John and Mary Pearson have attended Westminster for over 20 years and have two teens.
Judy Piper
Judy Piper has attended Westminster Chapel for 17 years. She has been involved with Alpha, Women’s Ministries, and Celebrate Recovery. She and her husband, Scott, have two sons.
Jacqui Randolph
Jacqui Randolph is an Associate Professor of Bible and Christian Ed at Northwest University in Kirkland, where she has been teaching for over twenty years. Jacqui holds an MA from Assemblies of God Theological Seminary.
Nelson Reed
Nelson became a member of Westminster in 1971. He led the Jr. High program for two summers. Nelson has studied the Bible and missions. He served Prairie Bible College as Dean of Men for five years, then spent twenty-five years in the Philippines with Action International Ministries, and he now leads ACTION as International Director.
Ralph Rowland
Ralph Rowland is our Mission Pastor and oversees Alpha. His primary passion is helping people learn to share their faith as a lifestyle. Ralph is a graduate of Western Baptist College and received an M.A. in Marriage and Family Counseling from Azusa Pacific University.
Howard Sage
Howard Sage is a Christian Counselor and Teacher. He has a doctorate in education and is in private practice in Bellevue. He teaches four different Christian Growth Classes and is a leader in our church’s Congregational Care Ministry. Howard’s passion is equipping believers to serve in leadership, caregiving and spiritual growth roles in ministry.
Rabbi Hylan Slobodkin
Rabbi Hylan Slobodkin grew up in a conservative Jewish home in Los Angeles. Disillusioned with his religion, he studied Hinduism and yoga. In an effort to find a guru, he headed off to Europe but “ended up” in Switzerland at L’Abri, the home of Dr. and Mrs. Francis Schaeffer. He and his wife came to know Jesus in 1970. Today he leads the messianic congregation Beit Tikvah in Newcastle.
Dan Smith
Dan Smith has been a lay counselor, under the supervision of Dr. Edie Phillips, for more than 20 years. He has been active in men’s mentoring and is a part of the Men’s Leadership Ministry Team.
Ken Stocker
Ken Stocker is on staff at Westminster Chapel. His ministries include working with the homeless, teaching at Celebrate Recovery, and writing lessons for small group Bible studies. Ken is a recent graduate of Northwest University where he completed a Certificate in Christian Studies.
Peter Thomas
Peter Thomas has a Ph.D in Theoretical Physics in India and a Post Doc from Brookhaven National Lab, NY. God has captured his heart, and he longs to share the joys of this amazing relationship with others. As a serious student of the Word for over twenty-five years, he is fascinated that all aspects of human knowledge point to the existence and glory of the God of the Bible.
Brad and Kristina Valantine
Brad and Kristina Valantine have attended Westminster for over 25 years and have two teens.
Dr. John Vasko
Dr. John Vasko is a graduate of Stanford and earned his MD at State U. of NY. His post-doctoral work in surgery and radiology was completed at Ohio State and UW. He has also attended Fuller Seminary and has been an elder in the Presbyterian Church.
Dr. Keith and Lori Webb
Dr. Keith and Lori Webb are professional trainers and coaches working with CRM. They equip non-profit leaders to transform their skills, character, spiritual life, and relationships for meaningful results. For the past 20 years, the Webbs have lived in Japan, Indonesia, and Singapore – traveling from there to serve leaders in 32 countries.
