FAQs
- Why are you using the term “Spiritual Formation” instead of just Bible studies?
- That is an excellent question. Jesus taught His disciples to teach as He had taught. During His earthly ministry, Jesus taught on marriage, parenting, caring for others, how to resolve conflict, as well as teaching from the sacred Scriptures. His entire ministry with the twelve apostles was a study of leadership development. Our core values reflect the belief that a spiritually formed person is one who actively loves God, loves others and serves the Kingdom. Therefore, classes on having healthy relationships and becoming a leader, as God intended, are as vital a part in the role of the church as are Bible studies.
- Does this mean that we won’t do Bible studies anymore?
- Westminster Chapel has always been a church that has faithfully communicated the word of God. Bible study remains an integral part of our Spiritual Formation class line up. We want our people to grow in all of the ways that God intended. Some additional classes on relationships and leadership, we believe will facilitate that.
- Why have we gone to a quarter system?
- An academic quarter system provides that all classes start and stop at the same time. This allows individuals to smoothly transfer from one class to another, at a predetermined time, without missing any of either. The beginning of each quarter essentially becomes a new entry point for people to join a Spiritual Formation class. Furthermore, the quarter calendar takes into account many of the school calendars in our area which tend to drive the agenda of families.
