Values for the Core

We are so excited with what God is doing in Student Ministries. We understand that this is a crucial time in the lives of our students. They are trying to figure out who they are, what they believe, and what they want to do with their lives. They are looking in all directions for meaning and significance; unfortunately sometimes in the wrong direction.

Students want to be connected in real, authentic relationships, not shallow and hollow ones. We are committed to helping students connect relationally to one another and most importantly to the Living God by building an inviting, accepting and loving community of students who are passionately seeking to become like Jesus.

Our ministry centers around four core values that we weave not only into what we teach, but also into the events and ministry we engage in. They are: Own it, Grow it, Show it and Sow it. We want students to own their faith and not rely on the faith of their friends or family, to understand the needed development of their faith, to get chances to demonstrate their gifts and abilities in ministry, and to invest eternally in the lives of those around them. A closer look at these is available in the resources lists on the right. Click on “Values for the Core.”

Our staff plays an important role. We recognize that relationship is the primary pathway to spiritual formation, so we are committed to developing relationships with our students that transcend the four walls of our church. The Apostle Paul says it best in I Thessalonians 2:8, “So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.”

It is our desire that students will find this a safe place to grow into who God is calling them to be and heal from the brokenness we all face in our lives. To see what’s happening, to register for events and to connect with leaders and students, join The City, our online community.
