Armor Bearer Prayer Ministry

Greetings from the Armor Bearer Team! If you aren’t already familiar with Armor Bearers, our mission is to match up each student in the Westminster Jr. High and Sr. High ministries with someone who will pray for them. Our team is responsible to take photos and gather information on each student, recruit enough adults to pray and then match an adult and student together. All adults are put through a background check and looked over by our counseling team before being allowed to participate. This is a voluntary program on both sides and we need your help to make it work.

If your student would like to be matched up with an Armor Bearer, we need your permission in writing and information from your student. Both of these documents are available below and the student information update can be submitted online as well. Legally we need a parent or guardian signature in writing in order to give out any information. This applies to students over 18 as well. On the permission form, it is necessary for you to also mark clearly what information we can give out to the Armor Bearer and what we cannot.

Once we get all the information, we are able to spend time in prayer as a team and match students with Armor Bearers. Those who are praying commit up to 3 years at a time. This is to cover students thru Jr. High and then through Sr. High. As with any volunteer ministry, people sometimes drop out for various reasons. In those cases, we re-match the student as soon as we are able. Some of those who pray would rather be anonymous while others are interested in reaching out and building a relationship with the students. We do our best to match up the student who wants a connection, with an Armor Bearer who is interested in this as well. We generally find that we have more students that want connection than adults. Because the focus of this ministry is solely to cover Westminster students in prayer, we usually warn the students that their Armor Bearer may not choose to contact them. The intention of Armor Bearers is not to form a mentor relationship, but rather a prayer partnership.
