Our focus this Sunday is on the discipline of solitude. Let me offer you a definition. The discipline of solitude is expressed by “restraining from interacting with other people in order to be alone with God and to be found by Him.” Like the discipline of sabbath, this one is hard for us to understand and embrace. It requires us to find a “place” that removes us from the noise, clatter, and confusion of our world.

This challenge reminded me of a song that I learned many years ago that describes that “place”.

There is a quiet place
Far from the rapid pace
Where God can soothe my troubled mind.
Sheltered by tree and flower
There in my quiet hour
With Him my cares are left behind.
Whether a garden small
Or on a mountain tall
New strength and courage there I find;
Then from this quiet place
I go prepared to face a new day
With love for all mankind.

Where is your “quiet place”? My goal on Sunday is to help you find it and to understand its importance in your life.

See you in church.

Pastor Gary

Also….As we approach the end of our church’s fiscal year and move into a new year, we are faced with a significant financial challenge. We need to finish this year with strength and set a financial foundation that will serve all the issues in transition. Let me ask you to prayerfully consider how you might adjust your stewardship plan to help us address this challenge. Thank you in advance for your involvement in this area.
