Dear Westminster Family:
Pursuit – It’s a word that means striving for or chasing after. Seeking after God in this way is a common theme in the Bible. Acts 17:26-28 says, “And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, for ‘In him we live and move and have our being’; as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are indeed his offspring.’”
A few times a year our worship service takes on a slightly different look as we set aside time to join together in our “Pursuit” of God. Through extended times of worship and prayer, we hope to more clearly hear the voice of God in our lives and understand what it means to strive for and chase after Him. This Sunday is one of those opportunities. Our time together will be focused on 2 Timothy 3:14-16 and the importance of God’s Word in our lives. We will also celebrate together as throughout the morning we witness thirteen people express their faith through baptism.
This Sunday is also “Move Up Sunday” in our Family Ministries Department as we end the school year and transition our children and youth up a grade level. In addition to our extended time of worship and prayer, we will also bring some of this celebration into the Sanctuary as we highlight and pray for those making these significant transitions.
I hope you will join us and will prepare your hearts in advance for our time together.
See you in church!
Pastor Matt
