Dear Westminster Family:
One of the principles in Stephen Covey’s popular book, THE SEVEN HABITS OF HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE, asserts that every worthwhile enterprise/activity should begin with “the end in mind.” Pastor Matt speaks to this principle on Sunday. His message is entitled, “Final Destination” and focuses on the “end” that God has in mind for all those who successfully navigate their way through this broken world. Let me encourage you to read I Peter 4:7-11 as you prepare for worship this week.
It is hard to believe that we are already half-way through the Summer. I trust that the season has provided some refreshment for you. I know that a number of you are traveling. In fact, Jorie and I “hit the road” this week for our highly anticipated anniversary trip. Thanks again to all of you who helped make this trip possible.
I realize that the summer months disrupt some of our well-established patterns, but it is still important to remember the things that remain the same. Family ministry is one of those regular activities that actually ramps up in the summer. Your regular financial stewardship is both necessary and appreciated. Our general fund “dipped” below our anticipated giving last week for the first time in months. Just a gentle reminder to remember your church in your summer plans.
Our middle school and high school students leave for camp on Monday. Please pray for Katharine and Josh as they lead this effort, for the many volunteers who come alongside our kids, for the ministry staff who will handle the speaking, and for the students who will have time to reflect on their relationship to God and each other.
Blessings to you all…
Pastor Gary
