DEAR WESTMINSTER FAMILY –

On this Sunday we will commemorate Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem that took place the week before He was put to death on the cross. The journey is depicted in the Scripture as a moment of joyful celebration…..but the celebration did not last. The hopeful cries of “hosanna” on that first Palm Sunday soon turned to cries of anger and despair on the first Good Friday. How sad for us and for the rest of the world if our celebration of Jesus had ended at the cross. The Apostle Paul said it well…”if in this life only we have hope, we are of all people most miserable”…… However, the resurrection of Jesus changed everything. We have cause to celebrate forever because He lives forever.

This week we will focus our attention on the discipline of celebration. Richard Foster in his book, CELEBRATION OF DISCIPLINE, reminds us…..”that the discipline of celebration gives us the strength to live in all the other disciplines. The other disciplines, faithfully pursued, bring us deliverance from those things that have made our lives miserable for years. Thus is formed an unbroken circle of life and power.”

Easter is just the right occasion to revive the spirit of celebration in our lives. Think creatively. How can you make this Easter a true celebration….one that will carry you through the whole year. It is our intention to offer you a number of experiences that should enhance your celebration of the season.
