WCKIDS WEEKLY

WC KIDS WEEKLY | 2022 – Week 45

November 6, 2022

We are concluding our unit on repentance this week. The question for this unit is, “What is repentance? Repentance is turning away from sin and turning to Jesus. Our memory verse for this unit is Acts 3:19, Therefore repent and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped out.” Try memorizing the verse as a family. (Preschoolers will use the same verse.)

Have you ever felt that everything was going wrong, and you just did not know how to fix things? This week, we are in the book of Zephaniah, a small book of prophecy towards the end of the Old Testament. Instructed by God, Zephaniah tells the people of Judah, and King Josiah, what is wrong and how to fix it – stop sinning and repent.  Unfortunately, Judah never repents, and in the coming weeks, we will see that God will punish them by sending them into exile. Thankfully, God sent Jesus to make us right with God and will one day make all things right.

We will have a simple Family Advent Kit available November 20 for families to use during Advent, November 27-December 25. For more information and to reserve your FREE Advent Kit, visit us online.

WC KIDS WEEKLY | 2022 – Week 44

October 30, 2022

We are continuing our unit on repentance this week.

This week, we are in Isaiah 22 and 48 as we see Isaiah warn God’s people of God’s judgment for their sin and lack of repentance. Sin is a big deal to God but, as 1 John 1:9 reminds us, “if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” Help your children know that a bigger day of judgment is coming when God will judge sin one last time, but Jesus came to rescue sinners. Everyone who repents of sin and trusts in Jesus will be safe from judgment and have life with Him forever.

WC KIDS WEEKLY | 2022 – Week 43

October 23, 2022

We are starting a new unit on repentance this week.

Do you find it hard to say you are sorry? To whom is it hardest to admit you are wrong and ask for forgiveness? We are starting a new unit on repentance this week as we look at the life of King Joash. (2 Kings 12) Joash became king when he was 7 years old! Joash wanted to obey God. He honored God at first, but in time, his actions showed that there was still sin in his heart. Jesus wants to change our hearts. When we trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior, He gives us new hearts that want to live for His glory.

This week, our children will learn about Judah’s exile to Babylon (2 Chronicles 36). God allows King Nebuchadnezzar to destroy Jerusalem and His temple. When it seems like circumstances are out of control, we will see that God is always working in all times and seasons. And though we may wonder about His purposes, we can trust that they are always ultimately for His glory and our good, even when that is hard to understand or believe. #wcchildrensministrythisweek Learn more at www.westminster.org/kids. #wcbellevueparents ... What would you do for your enemy? This week, we are in the book of Jonah as we see God tell Jonah to go to his enemies and tell them to stop sinning. Jonah did not want to go. Did you know that Romans 5:10 says that we were enemies of God? God sent His own Son, Jesus, to go to His enemies and tell them to stop sinning. Unlike Jonah, Jesus wanted to obey God. He died on the cross to save us from sin.#wcchildrensministrythisweek Learn more at www.westminster.org/kids. #wcbellevueparents ... See MoreSee Less

MORE ABOUT WESTMINSTER KIDS

We believe that the more you know Jesus, the more you know what really matters! Our key verse for ministry is: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.  By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35)

Martha Clay

Children’s Ministry Director

I love introducing children to the Gospel Story of the Bible and helping them become lifelong disciples of Jesus. I love the humor, the hugs, and the honesty of children.  I grew up at Westminster and found it a great place to learn and develop my faith and gifts.  My hope is that elementary children will feel that Westminster is their church where they can learn to love like Jesus and develop their gifts.

My husband Dan and I have 3 children who are all adults now.  In my free time, I enjoy reading, history, Paris tea, puzzles, and walks with my husband Dan.
