WC KIDS WEEKLY | 2022 – Week 23

June 5, 2022
We are continuing our study about the time of the Judges in Children’s Ministry. We are learning that the fair punishment for sin is death. But as our memory verse for this unit, Romans 6:23, reminds us, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
When was the last time you prayed fervently to God? What did you need? Did He answer in a way you expected? This week, we are looking at the story of Hannah, the mother of Samuel. (I Samuel 1-3) Her prayer was for a son, and she was willing to send that son, Samuel, away from home to serve God with his whole life if God would answer her prayer.
Use the Family Devotional to learn more as a family this week. We serve a God who hears us, and because He hears us, no prayer is too small or too big to bring to Him. God sent Jesus from heaven to earth to be our Savior. Just as Samuel used God’s words to tell people about God, Jesus—the Word who became flesh—perfectly shows us what God is like.
The Family Devotional includes opportunities for families to read and memorize God’s Word, share a worship experience, do activities and more!
Registration for our Family Experience with MrJ, August 1-4, 2022 from 5:00-8:30 PM, is now open! Registration and information is available ONLINE.

Have you ever felt hopeless? This week, we are looking at the story of Ruth and Naomi from the book of Ruth. Ruth and Naomi had lost everything and, at least Naomi, felt helpless. God saw their needs and provided a family for them with Boaz, a close relative. Boaz was a kinsman-redeemer, someone who bought back that which was lost to help their relatives. From the family of Ruth and Boaz’s great-grandson (King David), Jesus would come into the world and in His great love for people, redeem all who put their trust in Him alone.
Use the Family Devotional to learn more as a family this week. Remember that in Jesus, we have hope no matter how hopeless our situation looks. Jesus is more than just a friend. Jesus is our kinsman-redeemer. Thank you, Jesus, for redeeming us from our sin!

Who is the strongest person you have ever known? This week, we are learning about Samson, a really strong man who was one of the people God called to turn the nation of Israel’s eyes from themselves and point them to God. (Judges 13-16) Unfortunately, Samson did not live the life he was supposed to lead. Samson’s sin led to his own death, but God used his death to save the Israelites from their enemies.
Use the Family Devotional to learn more as a family this week. Samson’s story reminds us of Jesus. Fortunately, Jesus lived the live he was supposed to live. Jesus never sinned, but God sent Him to die on the cross and rise again to rescue people from sin and give them eternal life. Thank you, Jesus, for paying the wage for our sin!

MORE ABOUT WESTMINSTER KIDS
We believe that the more you know Jesus, the more you know what really matters! Our key verse for ministry is: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35)
Martha Clay
Children’s Ministry Director
I love introducing children to the Gospel Story of the Bible and helping them become lifelong disciples of Jesus. I love the humor, the hugs, and the honesty of children. I grew up at Westminster and found it a great place to learn and develop my faith and gifts. My hope is that elementary children will feel that Westminster is their church where they can learn to love like Jesus and develop their gifts.
My husband Dan and I have 3 children who are all adults now. In my free time, I enjoy reading, history, Paris tea, puzzles, and walks with my husband Dan.
