The Gift of Giving
(II Corinthians 9:6-15)

Giving is “the tail that wags the dog” in our faith experience. Our attitudes about giving impact every part of our relationship with God and others. If we are going to truly love the people with whom we live, work, and play we need to be good givers.

I am not going to tell you “what” you should give. We will take our giving instruction from the Scriptures. The Bible tells us “how” to give. Our obedience should take care of the “what.”

I. God want us to give thankfully. (II Corinthians 9:15)

II. God wants us to give generously. (Exodus 36:3, 7)

III. God wants us to give regularly and systematically. (I Corinthians 16:2)

IV. God wants us to give voluntarily. (II Corinthians 9:7)

V. God wants us to give joyfully. (II Corinthians 9:7)

VI. God wants us to give worshipfully. (II Corinthians 8:5)

VII. God wants us to give proportionately. (I Corinthians 16:2)

VIII. God wants us to give sacrificially. (II Corinthians 8:3)

IX. God wants us to give quietly. (Matthew 6:1, 4)
