We are continuing our unit about King David this week. The question for this unit is, “What is Grace?” We will see that “grace is when God gives us something good even when we do not deserve it”. Our memory verse for this unit is Ephesians 1:7-8, “In him (Jesus) we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace that he richly poured out on us with all wisdom and understanding.” Try memorizing the verse as a family!
How has God been faithful to your family?
This week, we look at the story of God making a covenant with David, or promise, that future kings of Israel would come from David’s family, and David’s kingdom would last forever. (2 Samuel 6-7) While David is described in the Bible as a man after God’s own heart. (1 Samuel 13:14), God also knew that David would sin in some very horrible ways. In His grace, God kept His promise by sending His Son, Jesus, as one of David’s descendants. Jesus died for our sins so that we can have relationship with God. Jesus is our King who will, someday, rule over God’s people forever. Amazing Grace!
