We are continuing our unit about King Solomon this week. The question for this unit is, “What is Mercy?” We will see that “mercy is when God does not give us the punishment that we deserve. Our memory verse for this unit is Exodus 34:6-7, The LORD—the LORD is a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love and truth, maintaining faithful love to a thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, rebellion, and sin.Try memorizing the verse as a family. (Preschoolers will use bolded verse.)

Where do you like to meet with and talk to God? What do you love most about church? What do your children love most about church? Do you have a favorite place at church?

This week, we will be talking about church and prayer as we learn about Solomon building the Temple in Jerusalem (1 Kings 6-9) Many years before, God promised King David that his son would build a temple. While the temple was a special place where the Israelites met with God, we know that through Jesus, God is with us wherever we go. Jesus is the ultimate fulfillment of God’s promise to dwell with His people forever.
