We are continuing our unit on only worshipping God this week. The question for this unit is, “What is idolatry? Idolatry is a sin of the heart in which we love and value something else above God.“ Our memory verse for this unit is Deuteronomy 6:4-5, “Listen, Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.” Try memorizing the verse as a family. (Preschoolers will use bolded verse.)
Do you ever admire someone and wish you could be like them? This week, we are in 2 Kings 2 as Elisha wants something Elijah has: his spirit. God gave Elisha the same spirit that was in Elijah so Elisha could do his work as a prophet. Years later, Jesus told His followers to wait for the Holy Spirit. God gives believers the Holy Spirit so they can share Jesus’ good news with the world.
