We are continuing our unit on repentance this week. The question for this unit is, “What is repentance? Repentance is turning away from sin and turning to Jesus.“ Our memory verse for this unit is Acts 3:19, “Therefore repent and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped out.” Try memorizing the verse as a family. (Preschoolers will use the same verse.)
This week, we are in Isaiah 22 and 48 as we see Isaiah warn God’s people of God’s judgment for their sin and lack of repentance. Sin is a big deal to God but, as 1 John 1:9 reminds us, “if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” Help your children know that a bigger day of judgment is coming when God will judge sin one last time, but Jesus came to rescue sinners. Everyone who repents of sin and trusts in Jesus will be safe from judgment and have life with Him forever.
