We are concluding our Christmas unit this week. The question for this unit is, “Why did Jesus come as a baby? Jesus came as a baby to live a perfect life so he could save us from our sins. (Preschool version).“ Our memory verse for this unit is John 3:16 (NIV), ”For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Try memorizing the verse as a family.
This week, we are talking about LOVE as we study the birth of Jesus in Luke 2:1-20. We will see that God showed His love to us by sending Jesus to earth so that we can have a relationship with God. Jesus showed us his love by dying for our sins on the cross. We can show our love for Jesus by loving others.
Read Luke 2:1-20 as a family. Here are a few questions to start conversation as a family:
- What would you do for a special person or thing to show that you care?
- Why is it important that Jesus came as a human baby?
- Why do you think Jesus was not born as a royal prince in a palace?
- How did Jesus show his love for us?
