We are continuing our unit that will take us through Exodus. Our lessons in this unit will remind us that worship is celebrating the greatness of God. This week, we are in Exodus 32-34 as we learn about the Israelites making and worshipping a Golden Calf while Moses was on the mountain meeting with God. This made God angry with the Israelites. He is a jealous God who will not give His glory to another. (See Isaiah 42:8.) Yet we see how Moses stepped in between God and the people to intercede on their behalf. It is easy to point at the Israelites failure, but we should not miss our own shortcomings. Moses acted as the people’s mediator, standing for them before God. Moses could not do anything to make up for their sin, but we have a better Mediator—Jesus. Jesus paid for our sin on the cross and stands for us before God. When we trust in Jesus, our sins are forgiven. Use the Family Devotional to learn more as a family this week. God is great and deserves our worship!
The Family Devotional includes opportunities for families to read and memorize God’s Word, share a worship experience, do activities and more!
