We are beginning a new unit on where God is this week. The question for this unit is, “Where is God? God is in all places at all times and is always with His people.” Our memory verse for this unit is Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV), ”The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing” Try memorizing the verse as a family. (Preschoolers will memorize the bolded portion.)
Do you ever wonder where God is? Why is he not doing something? This week, we are looking at Jeremiah’s encouragement to the Israelites from Judah in exile in Babylon. (This would have included Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from the book of Daniel! More about them next week.) We will be looking at the letter God told Jeremiah to write in Jeremiah 29 and 30. We will see that God did not abandon His people. He was still with them. The prophet Jeremiah encouraged God’s people. He said God was going to save His people from captivity and raise up a new King—a forever King—from David’s family.
