We are continuing our last unit in the Old Testament as we learn about the importance of repentance. The question for this unit is, “How should we feel when we sin? When we sin, we should feel sorry that we have disobeyed God and want to turn from our sin because we love Him.” Our memory verse for this unit is 2 Corinthians 7:10 (NIV), ”Godly sorrow (or Feeling sorry) brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.” Try memorizing the verse as a family. (Preschoolers will memorize the bolded portion.)
This week, we are looking at how Nehemiah led the Jews to rebuild the wall around Jerusalem in the face of opposition. Nehemiah led the people to rebuild the walls around Jerusalem to protect them from their enemies. Jesus came to protect us from our greatest enemies, sin and death. He died on the cross and rose from the dead to rescue everyone who trusts in Him.
Check out the Learn More At Home button for discussion questions and activities you can do to reinforce learning and application at home. There is also a QR code that leads to Preschool and Elementary videos of the Bible story.
This week, we also begin Lent, the season of remembering Jesus’ death and resurrection, with Ash Wednesday. We have a Lent/Easter Resource sheet available that gives a variety of ideas and resources to use to learn as a family during the season of Lent. Take a look!
