We are starting our first unit in the New Testament as we learn about the importance Jesus coming to earth as a baby. The question for this unit is, “What did Jesus do to save us? Jesus lived a sinless life, died on the cross, and rose from the dead.“ Our memory verse for this unit is John 1:29 (NIV), ”The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” Try memorizing the verse as a family. (Preschoolers will memorize the bolded portion.)
This week, we will be having a “Happy Birthday, Jesus!” party and learning about the birth of Jesus as we look at the life of Jesus for the rest of the year. The birth of Jesus was good news! Jesus was not an ordinary baby. He is God’s Son, sent to earth from heaven. Jesus, the promised Savior, came into the world to show us what God is like and to deliver us from sin and death.
Check out the Learn More At Home button for discussion questions and activities you can do to reinforce learning and application at home. There is also a QR code that leads to Preschool and Elementary videos of the Bible story.
We have a Lent/Easter Resource sheet available that gives a variety of ideas and resources to use to learn as a family during the season of Lent. Take a look!
