We are continuing our unit on the importance of Jesus coming to earth as a baby. The question for this unit is, What did Jesus do to save us? Jesus lived a sinless life, died on the cross, and rose from the dead. Our memory verse for this unit is John 1:29 (NIV), ”The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” Try memorizing the verse as a family. (Preschoolers will memorize the bolded portion.)

This week, we will be learning about Jesus’ baptism in Matthew 3 and Mark 1 as we look at the life of Jesus for the rest of the year. We will be helping children understand that Jesus lived a sinless life so he could die on the cross to save us from our sins. Jesus never sinned, but He obeyed God and was baptized like sinners are baptized. Baptism reminds us that Jesus died and came back to life. People who know and love Jesus are baptized to show they want to follow Jesus for the rest of their lives.

We have a Lent/Easter Resource sheet available that gives a variety of ideas and resources to use to learn as a family during the season of Lent. Take a look!
