We are starting a new unit on some of Jesus’ miracles and how they show that He is God. The question for this unit is, “Is Jesus God or a human? As the Son of God, Jesus is both fully God and fully human.” Our memory verse for this unit is John 1:18 (NIV), “No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.” Try memorizing the verse as a family. (Preschoolers will memorize the bolded portion.)

This week, we are looking at how Jesus calmed a storm and the reaction of his disciples in Matthew 8. We will learn that “Jesus’ disciples knew Jesus was a good man and a good teacher. When Jesus calmed the wind and the waves, He showed His disciples that He is also God. God rules the sea and stills its waves.” When we have things that cause us worry and concern, may we, like the disciples, have “a reverent awe toward the God who made us and loves us and has promised to be with us through every circumstance of our life.”
