We are concluding our unit on some of the events leading up to Jesus’ arrest. The question for this unit is, “How is Jesus the perfect Priest? Jesus was the perfect sacrifice for sin, and He speaks to God the Father for us today.” Our memory verse for this unit is Hebrews 4:15 (NIV), “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.” Try memorizing the verse as a family. (Preschoolers will memorize the bolded portion.)
This week, we will be learning about events surrounding Jesus’ arrest. We will see that Jesus knew that His death was God’s plan to save people from sin. Jesus’ friends turned against Him and He was arrested and put on trial, but Jesus followed His Father’s plan in order to bring salvation to the world. Even when we are inconsistent in living as disciples, Jesus is always faithful to call us back into relationship with him. That is our true hope!
