I can’t believe February is just around the corner! The month of February brings some special events and holidays such as The Superbowl Sunday, Valentines Day, and Lunar New Year!
One of my favorite childhood memories is celebrating Lunar New Year or Chinese New Year. Lunar New Year was a special time in my family because we would see relatives from other parts of the world. Whether they were serving overseas, working in another state, or traveling to new places, they would come back home to ring in the New Year with us. Some of my favorite memories include eating traditional dishes, playing with all my cousins, and sharing stories around the table. When I was not running around with my cousins, I would join my parents at the adult table and listen to stories. Sometimes the stories seemed really boring (to me) but I would just listen to these stories and be amazed at how much God loves each one of us.
Bringing people together around food to share stories and get to know each other is the reason why we do Sunday Lunches. It is an opportunity to sit next to someone you have never met before and listen to their story. How many people’s stories have you listened to recently?
This Sunday right after service, we are having Lunar New Year themed Sunday Lunch. I hope you can join us!
