S = Spiritual Gifts    = Heart Desires    A = Abilities    P = Personality    E = Experiences in Life

God created each of us with a unique combination of abilities that He wants us to enjoy and develop in order to bless others and invest in His Kingdom work.

REVIEW:

S = Spiritual Gifts  I Corinthians 12:4-7

“There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.

A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.”

H = Heart   Prov 4:23 “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.”

  1. Your heart is unique.
  2. We all have experienced a “loss of heart.”
  3. God is in the process of Restoring the Heart He gave us.

A = Abilities

P = Personality: Definition of Personality/Temperament

• The quality or fact of being a particular person.

• Habitual patterns and qualities of behavior.

• Distinctive individual qualities considered collectively.

• One’s customary frame of mind or natural disposition.

Two people may have the same Spiritual gift or same ability but their personality will carry this gift or ability out in different ways.

It is good to know yourself and bless who God made you, not try to be someone else because it “looks better” or you “should.” I am fearfully and wonderfully made. When we celebrate this we join God in his creating.

E = Experiences in life

Question #1:

There are a number of personality tests out there- what is your favorite one and why?

Some of my favorites are:

Enneagram

Meyer-Briggs

Strength Finders

Predictable Success (The one Sylvia showed last week)

How We Love

Question #2

How would understanding your own personality and other people on your team at church or at work help you to “accomplish” more.

Why is this important in a church?

High and low side of your personality. God gave you a unique “way of being” .

A self to lose and a self to find: Being all that God created you to be

Note: Trauma or “little traumas” can cover your personality. It is important to do the work with someone who can help you locate your “false self” and help you understand what was going on that you needed to cover yourself.  (My example)

Exercise #1 (see Handout #1) DISC

Exercise #2 How are you energized/organized handout

80/20 rule

Holly’s example of working with people/tasks-details- meeting drains and how I need to communicate this to my team at times and others just be.

Importance  of our body, friends and work speaking to us of pushing past God’s design and maybe needing to find someone to help you.

Putting it all together:

The goal is to live fully and freely into all God has you to be in the fullness of a greater community that can do more for the Kingdom of God together than we can do on our own.

Homework:

Notice this week your unique personality and praise God for it at least one time a day.

Find someone you work with or live with or minister with and “bless” his or her unique personality style. Praise God that we are all different.
